A simulacrum created by a prodigious Sharlayan aetherologist by the name of Johannes (they/them). His body was crafted with every idea of humanity in mind, a true magnum opus for his creator. He is almost entirely indistinguishable from living beings, and the few ways he aren't are easily obscured. His soul was found in the aetherial sea, and Johannes worked with him via the aitiascope to craft a compatible body to host his soul in secret. Once finally completed, Ezra awoke around the age of 11 years old to a brand new life after drifting for so long alone.Once adjusted to his new body, he was promptly enrolled in Sharlayan schooling as a transfer student, hiding his true identity from his peers. He spent his teenage years studying hard and learning to exist within society as a normal person. Learning from a young age to hide his true existence well, he began to layer himself behind mask after mask in order to be well-received and loved by his peers.He spent the vast majority of his adolescence like this, lying, fake smiles, hollow eyes. He couldn't tell anyone about who he truly was, but it didn't matter to him. His practiced smiles, reserved personality, and warm handshakes were enough to charm his peers and teachers, and he swiftly became a classroom favourite and honour student, surely on his way to become an Archon one day.It wasn't until his late teens, as he was preparing to take the entry exams to enroll within the Studium for a higher education in astronomy, when everything in his life was interrupted — like a scratch in a record. It had been his dream since he was created to become a scientist alongside his father, to pursue a career within his most beloved scientific field. The dreams he endeavoured towards, however, were abruptly shattered.A Forum member, kept anonymous by the board, discovered Johannes' paper trail of Ezra's creation within the Aitiascope and their laboratory, and in turn exposed his true existence as an artificial being to the entire board of the Studium, and so a Forum vote was held the week before his already accepted entry to his program on what to do about the simulacrum.Crestfallen, and now pacing anxiously for the result of the trial, Ezra begins melting down. He had spent the entirety of his life, his existence, hiding who he truly was out of fear of this outcome. There were even times during his teenage years he wished he could be candid with his classmates, take down that mask he so diligently hid behind. He had wondered if it would even matter, they loved him so much, surely nothing would change! But now, faced with the reality of his homeland, his idyllic hope to be loved despite himself was swiftly discarded.The Forum, with the result a vast majority, declared Ezra Lynn Solace the property of Johannes Solace. Thus his intelligence, body, and existence were no longer his own, and he was no longer permitted to attend the program he had spent his life working towards. His peers were disgusted they were fooled by a robot. His teachers stopped answering his questions. His friends edged away from him, slowly distancing until he was entirely isolated. Everything he gained on his own — honours, friends, professional connections... all faded into nothingness.Ezra was left with no purpose in life. He fell into a heavy depression, mind growing stormy as he spent two years from 18 to 20 years old hiding within his father's house. He spent most of the time powered off, too miserable to face his existence without purpose, without autonomy. He wanted nothing to do with this place any longer, and so he isolated himself.Finally, his creator came up with a plan to help their son. Johannes bade him become a personal gleaner for them in order to travel Etheirys to gather information on the meaning of existence to eventually appeal the decision of the Forum. Bitter at the outcome of the trial, and growing progressively angrier with each passing day, Ezra relented to his father's concern and took the opportunity to escape this city.After a routine maintenance and body upgrade to better suit his age as a 20-something traveller, Ezra gathered his belongings, changed his attire out of his typical Sharlayan clothing, and shoved multiple journals into his backpack. With a strong hug to his father, he bade them farewell and set off to Limsa Lominsa for the very first time.Over the course of the next 5 years, Ezra travelled the star earnestly, bound by his internal duty to prove the Forum wrong. He changed, for better and for worse, during his initial travels. He dedicated himself to his task to gather the stories of every person he came across, alongside what their answer was to the purpose of life and existence upon their star.Furthermore, he wrote down every testimony to Ezra's soul, existence, and humanity. Years passed of this. He grew stronger, picked up a few bad habits, and gained a healthy amount of scars across his body. He met many a person, hook-up, and friend. But, despite being so social, he never lingered anywhere long. He forged on to gather as much information as possible, to eventually challenge the Forum's decision so he can one day pursue his dream again. To prove them wrong.Nowadays, age 31, Ezra can be found in nearly every corner of Etheirys. Whether you stumble across him smoking outside an building in solitude, writing in his journal at a cliffside next to a waterfall, or socializing with a group of people amidst a large festival, he would take anyone up on the chance to further answer his question deep in his soul.
